Avery wrote this helpful post about living one's life reflectively. Though she did not quote Socrates, he is right, the unexamined life is not worth living. The prologue to Proverbs puts it differently, and this is closer to what she is getting at, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not rely on your own strength. In all your ways, acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord, and turn away from evil. It will be a healing for your flesh and a refreshment for your body. (Proverbs 3:5-7)"
Don't be wise in your own eyes, but examine yourself and what you do. This is the substance of repentance, rethink your life on the basis of the teachings of Jesus Christ.
